Andy Rooney health 'serious' surgery Complications

Andy Rooney is an American radio and television top writer. He is a part of the CBS News program 60 Minutes from 1978 to 2011 that’s his weekly broadcast "A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney", His final regular appearance on 60 Minutes aired October 2, 2011.

I've made my living as a writer for seventy years now. It's been pretty good. "
"Andy Rooney underwent minor surgery last week and suffered serious complications," CBS said in a statement. "For that reason, he remains in the hospital, but his condition is stable. The Rooney family asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult time."
Rooney began his 70-year journalism career on the U.S. Army's "Stars and Stripes" newspaper, and joined CBS in 1949 as a writer for "Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts.
"I'm not retiring," he said. "Writers don't retire, and I'll always be a writer."
At his retirement, Rooney was at 92 among the oldest persons still working on-air in television. The 2010-11 season marks his 34th doing these unique reports, which became a regular feature on "60 Minutes" in September 1978. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2003.
The veteran television personality had a long career as a writer that predated his time as a television personality.
Rooney was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Albany, New York. He was drafted into the Army in 1941. In February 1943, he was one of six correspondents who flew with the Eighth Air Force on the first American bombing raid over Germany.
Rooney lives in New York. He has three daughters and a son.
